Global Gasm
18 December 2006
This year’s winter Solstice, Friday December 22nd, is shaping up to be a root’n toot’n sexy one!
And why is the shortest day - the day proclaimed by ancient peoples as the day that marks the return of the sun and thus a turning point in the calendar - associated this year with sex?
Bloggers, if you need an excuse to de-stress from holiday madness by means of a self-or-other induced gasm, you are in luck; 12/22/06 has been designated Global Orgasm day!
I love the mission behind big O day: “To effect change in the energy field of the earth through input of the largest possible surge of human energy …”
The idea is that 24-hours of a globally synchronized sexual release with participants simultaneously visualizing world peace will result in a massive positive input into the earth’s energy field.
In turn, all that good ju-ju has the potential to counteract negative energy that feeds aggression and violence vis-à-vis war.
Excellent mission, don’t you think?
Even if the idea of everyone everywhere taking time out to have a gasm or two during one day is a bit far-fetched (after all the big O message is being delivered via the web and only fourteen percent of the world’s population has access to the internet), the end goal is nevertheless a goodie.
Certainly for those who do participate, intentional orgasm-ing is more than good. It’s a beaut, sensual and calming way to spend the Friday before Chrissie - especially if you’ve finalized your online shopping gifting that goat, bucket, clean water, etc. etc., on behalf of a loved one, to a villager in need.
It would seem that organizers of the Solstice Synchronized Global Orgasm for Peace chose carefully the day for the big O. If the solstice heralds the return of the sun (in the northern hemisphere, that is) it also celebrates the shift from darkness to light.
At a time when we seem to be living perennially with darkness in the form of fear, intolerance, and judgment, it makes sense to find ways to access the light. Light in the form of compassion for self and others; and the light side of life, apropos rolling around in frenzied pursuit of a big O!
With that in mind, carve out space this Friday for some light activity along lines of a fab gasm coordinated with positive thoughts about peace on earth. If nothing else, it’s sure to be a feel-good exercise!
